Visa and Residence

Visa procedure

Students who wish to study in Turkey must apply for a student visa at the nearest Turkish Republic Consulate. The student visa process can take some time, so it is important that you apply for the student visa as soon as you receive your acceptance letter.

You can find out about the Republic of Turkey”s visa requirements for your country of citizenship at Turkey Ministry from Foreign Affairs. http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa

You have the option to apply for a visa via the internet. For this procedure you can visit https://www.konsolosluk.gov.tr/.

Procedure for the residence permit

Once you have arrived in Turkey and completed your enrollment at the college, the most important thing is to apply for a residence permit.  After filling out the application form at https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/, you should go to Provincial Directorate of Migration Management on the day and hour of the appointment or drop off the paperwork at your college”s international student office. As long as you are in Turkey, you can use your residence card and the foreign identification number (YU) you received after applying to complete all formal transactions.

If your residence card does not expire, you can use it when entering or leaving Turkey and do not need to apply for a new visa. It is important that you renew your residence permit before it expires.

As a student, you are exempt from the residence permit application fee, you only have to pay the card fee.
